ESU-GA/MPC is an “Add-on module” for the surgical procedures of cut and coagulation by Argon gas for open-sky surgery, laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery. Argon is an inert gas that does not combine with other chemical elements and is used in combination with the HF currents come from an electrosurgical unit. Using specific handles, cables and electrodes and properly triggered, Argon can creates two advantages:
1) displacement of oxygen from operation site reducing smoke or unpleasant odors obtaining the best surgical results.
2) more interesting, is the ability to differently coagulate with respect to the normal coagulations obtained using only electrosurgical units. In fact the Argon flow is ionised through HF current of electrosurgical units that flows freely reaching the surgical site on which an absolutely-constant superficial coagulation with a 3 mm maximum depth is being operated and produced, depending on the setting parameters. Moreover, since that flow fundamentally goes from high-impedance tissue towards low-impedance tissue, the haemostatic action is performed in the non-coagulated tissues only and absent in the coagulated ones, with an improved reduction of carbonisation.
For the above mentioned reasons this coagulation is really efficient and useful not only in traditional open-sky surgery, (main application is in liver surgery), but in the laparoscopy and endoscopy also for those whose dedicated electrodes are available.
ESU GA/MPC can be easily connected to the electrosurgical units and can be activated either by using standard handswitch with pushbuttons on the pencil or double pedal switch. Its use doesn’t block the normal performances of electrosurgical unit to which is connected and you can use independently the two units. |
